Jeremy Enigk first emerged as the frontman of the highly touted Seattle band Sunny Day Real Estate, which issued their Sub Pop debut, Diary, in 1994. In the midst of recording the group's sophomore effort, Enigk underwent a radical spiritual transformation and left the group; although he later returned to complete LP2, Sunny Day Real Estate nonetheless dissolved, leaving bassist Nate Mendel and drummer William Goldsmith to join Dave Grohl in the Foo Fighters. Initially, Enigk retired from the music industry, but he soon picked up his guitar and began writing new songs, and his solo debut, The Return of the Frog Queen, a collection bypassing the primal furor of Sunny Day Real Estate's emocore for a lush, orchestral pop sound, appeared in 1996.

Urban folk singer/songwriter Damien Jurado quietly built up one of the strongest catalogs on the indie scene, earning high critical praise yet somehow never quite getting his proper due. Nick Drake had a definite impact on much of his work, but Jurado modeled his career on more idiosyncratic, unpredictable figures like Neil Young, Bob Dylan, Lou Reed, or Randy Newman -- songwriters who followed their own muse wherever it took them, whether fans and critics agreed or not. His independent-mindedness was born at least in part from the influence of punk, and one of the results was a concern for emotional authenticity that led him to delve into other people's lives instead of his own.

Intimate and playful, placid and serene. Melancholy and dark, with occasional hints of passing sadness. This is the sound of Sydney Wayser, a twenty year-old singer-songwriter who with her French father and American mother has lived her life between Paris and Los Angeles. Sydney’s music is rife with tales and adventure; it quite simply draws you into her world, delicately. Her first album, entitled “Silent Parade”, showcases Sydney’s elegant blend of strings, piano, guitar and percussion, that at once enraptures and brings you into her world where carousels’ turn with youthful exuberance, and love is questioned in lucid prose. It is the ode to simplicity and a nod to grace that truly defines the impact of Sydney’s writing and voice. There’s a tranquil and frozen moment feel, reminiscent of a Modigliani portrait hatched in a small studio in Montparnasse.
