In 2017 Buffalo Tom will embark on US and European tour dates to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Let Me Come Over (a double vinyl reissue on Beggars Banquet). They’ll be playing the classic record front to back followed by a fully set of songs from their entire career.

Bill Janovitz - guitar, vocals
Chris Colbourn - bass, vocals
Tom Maginnis - drums

Buffalo Tom formed at the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in 1984 - A breeding ground of post punk guitar bands like Dinosaur Jr. and The Pixies. J Mascis from Dinosaur was a guiding force, producing their first two albums (Buffalo Tom and Birdbrain) and introducing them to SST Records. The band was signed in Europe to Megadisc and Beggars Banquet Records.

Buffalo Tom thrived on US college radio in the late 1980's and toured extensively in Europe, the US, Australia and Japan. In 1992 the band recorded their third album Let Me Come Over, with a varied group of songs they had been developing at home and on the road - mixing their live power trio sound with some more acoustic based guitar ballads. The album's single Taillights Fade would become their signature song.

In the spring of 1993 the band headed to Hollywood's famous Cherokee studios to record Big Red Letter Day, with lengthy studio sessions that produced some of the groups biggest commercial radio and TV airplay, including a guest appearance on the much loved teen angst series - My So Called Life, starring Claire Danes.

Bill Janovitz:
My So Called Life really did alter our career trajectory in a measurable way. All of a sudden, we had more young women coming to our shows. I think we had been mostly an emotional outlet for sensitive but inarticulate young men until that point.

By the late 1990's touring activity slowed down a bit with a continued focus on recording with the albums Sleepy Eyed and Smitten.

For better or worse- instead of following the changing trends in music over the decades - Buffalo Tom has continued to do what they believe they do best; create their own kind of folk rock songs- developing albums in their basement rehearsal spaces with the continued Influences of their musical, film and literary heroes:

The Rolling Stones, Van Morrison, Tom Waits, Nick Cave, RIchard Ford, John Steinbeck, James Tate, Pier Paolo Pasolini and Jim Jarmusch to name a few.

As their families grew, the band staked out roots near Boston and took a significant break in recording until the 2007 release Three Easy Pieces, followed bySkins (2011).

In autumn 2016 the band began recording new music at Woolly Mammoth Sound, and in 2017 will embark on US and European tour dates to celebrate the 25th anniversary release of Let Me Come Over (double vinyl reissue- Beggars Banquet)
their first official live album - (Buffalo Tom live at University of London Union 1992/Beggars Banquet) and the release of their ninth studio album for the summer.
